Art as my safe-haven.
Personal arts-making by Jasmine Sernberg. It is important to remember that Arts Therapy is not about reaching a creative or visually aesthetic outcome. However, these are some works that share insight into Jasmine's style in her personal work. Predominantly, she works with acrylic paint on canvas, enjoying the sense of 'quick drying' that this medium offers and the ability to layer up in the one afternoon. Painting allows Jasmine to practice mindfulness, where she experiences benefits of being creative as incredibly relaxing, therapeutic and safe. As you may notice, landscapes and colour are a bit of theme for allowing time to really look in, be present, to breathe and reflect. Learning new arts techniques and skills is important for incorporation into practice. More recently, Jasmine has been mastering the mindful benefits of macrame and basket weaving.
