Jasmine Sernberg
Registered Arts Therapist, Facilitator and Owner

MA Therapeutic Arts Practice, AThR (Professional Member No. 54416831) ANZACATA, BBus (Major Mktg&EMgmt), Cert III Creative Arts & Contemporary Craft
Jasmine is a registered Arts Therapist and founder of Papernook, with a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice. She is professionally trained in creative therapeutic interventions using the MIECAT Form of Inquiry and trained in psychoneuroimmunology relaxation-based techniques.

Jasmine supports a range of clients, and has a special interest in working experientially in practice to support teens through to young adulthood and new mums. She holds additional expertise in perinatal mental health, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and domestic and family violence. Jasmine facilitates team training to front line client-facing staff covering a range of areas including professional boundaries and reflective practice.

As a landscape painter and solo mum to a non-verbal two year old with Autism, Jasmine navigates the NDIS firsthand. Much of her downtime is spent exploring the garden with her little one - a reminder of the grounding, restorative power of play and curiosity. Her lived experience deeply informs her therapeutic practice and the importance of a trauma informed approach.

During her internship, Jasmine practiced as part of a multi-disciplinary Health and Well-being Services team at HELP. She has developed What is my Shape - an experiential book for teams - and co-facilitated Queensland Mental Health Commission-funded Champions of Change Forums, using therapeutic arts to amplify the voices of people with lived experience of mental illness, suicide and addiction. You can watch the full video here.

Before Arts Therapy in private practice, Jasmine spent several years in strategic marketing and communications for non-profits, including the disability and multicultural sector. She brings skills across marketing, media, project management, partnerships, events, youth leadership and cultural engagement - always driven by a desire to support people who need it differently

Chloe is a Registered Arts Therapist and valued member of the Papernook clinical team. She holds a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice from MIECAT. Chloe first came to Papernook in 2023 to complete her placement and has since joined us as fully-qualified practicing Arts Therapist.

As our resident ceramicist, Chloe describes herself as a hobbyist at heart, and also dabbles in embroidery, painting and photography — always curious, always making. Her own lived experience shapes everything about the way she shows up for clients. Having emigrated from Switzerland to Australia as a young girl, Chloe knows firsthand what it feels like to navigate the unfamiliar. Rather than written language, she has regularly found herself turning to art-making to process, communicate and connect — and this deeply informs her belief in Arts Therapy as a tool for those who find meaning and expression beyond words. Chloe has completed additional training in AUSLAN and fluent in French, making her accessible to a broader range of clients and communities.

Prior to Arts Therapy, Chloe worked as a Disability Support Worker for several years, developing a natural ease in adapting to the specific needs of diverse clients and settings. She brings that same flexibility and attentiveness into developing therapeutic relationships, approaching each client with an open and genuinely curious mind. We have found our little clients match exceptionally well with Chloe's gentleness and creative curiosity.

Annika Keefer
Registered Arts Therapist
MA Therapeutic Arts Practice, AThR (Professional Member) ANZACATA, Adv Dip Art Therapy, Cert IV Music Performance
Annika is an Arts Therapist with over ten years of experience across the creative therapy and community arts sector. She holds a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice from MIECAT.

Since 2020, Annika has worked as an Arts Therapist within mental health hospital settings, supporting both inpatient and outpatient clients. She has extensive experience working with people navigating complex PTSD, chronic pain, major depressive disorder, anxiety, bipolar disorder, BPD, eating disorders and dissociative disorders, and approaches this work with care, curiosity, and a deep commitment to trauma-informed, client-centred practice.

Alongside her clinical work, Annika has spent years facilitating creative arts programs across a range of community settings — including with the Starlight Children's Foundation at Queensland Children's Hospital, and with the DRASTIC youth-arts program, where she supported vulnerable young people to develop and exhibit their own creative work, fostering confidence, self-agency and connection along the way. She has also worked as a Disability Support Worker, bringing a grounded understanding of diverse needs and experiences to her therapeutic relationships. Annika is currently completing a certification in Rebirthing Breathwork and holds a particular interest in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory and somatic approaches — perspectives that inform her integrative, body-aware therapeutic style. Annika completed internships with Art from the Margins and 'tbC' Yourth Arts Collective.

With roots in music performance (voice), creativity has always been central to Annika's life. Art-making has long been a meaningful personal resource for her, and this lived experience naturally shaped her path into therapeutic work. Today, that same belief in the transformative power of creative expression underpins everything she brings to her practice. At the heart of Annika's work is a belief in the power of creative process to help people make meaning of their experiences, reconnect with purpose, and gently rediscover joy, vitality and a sense of possibility.

Outside of the therapy room, Annika is a mum to a spirited three-year-old. You'll find her painting, making things with her hands, spending time in nature, singing in the car, and dancing in the living room.

Liz Abel
Registered Arts Therapist
MA Mental Health (Art Therapy), AThR (Professional Member No. 95874931) ANZACATA, BA Arts Therapy, Cert in Play Therapy, Certified Yoga Teacher
Picture
Please note: There is availability with Liz on Monday and Wednesday.
Liz is a registered Arts Therapist who first gained an undergraduate degree in Arts Therapy and went on to attain a Master of Mental Health (Art Therapy). Additionally, Liz has certifications in yoga teaching from Rishikesh, India in 2023 and Play Therapy. All of these bring a strong appreciation for the connection between body, mind, and creative expression into her work.

Her approach is shaped by deep interests in polyvagal and attachment theories, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), supporting a practice that is grounded in nervous system awareness and responsive to each individual. Liz works with clients across the lifespan, offering a space that is flexible and collaborative that honours each person’s unique way of engaging. Her work is neurodiversity-affirming, recognising and respecting different ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. She spent two years facilitating arts workshops with individuals and groups experiencing marginalisation, creating spaces where creativity could support connection, expression, and a sense of agency.

Liz’s path into art therapy was influenced by her own lived-experiences of using creative practice alongside therapy while navigating depression. This continues to inform the way she engages with clients — with honesty, warmth, and respect for the complexity of each person’s story. Alongside her therapeutic work, Liz maintains her own active arts practice, including basketry, bookbinding, eco-dyeing, and a wide range of two- and three-dimensional arts and crafts, which she gently weaves into her sessions where appropriate.

Most of all Liz believes in people’s capacity to heal and the effectiveness of embodied, creative, and play-based modalities to support this.
